The Singapore International Graduate Award SINGA Scholarships is now open and applicants from across the globe are invited to apply. SINGA Scholarships is a partnership formed by the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR), the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the Singapore Management University (SMU) and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).

The Fully-funded Singapore Government International Graduate Scholarships is an opportunity for international students to pursue a PhD in Singapore. As the title indicated, it is a fully-funded scholarship sponsored by the Singapore Government for those with a Masters degree and who seek to further their studies to the Doctoral level.

An Overview Of The Singapore Government Scholarships

The SINGA Scholarships is a graduate scholarship that covers fully all expenses required to complete a PhD program in Singapore. The PhD training will be carried out in English in any of the partner institutions. This also gives the students the opportunity to be supervised by world-renowned researchers.

The SINGA scholarships foster a vibrant and culturally diverse research community of international students. These international students will be working in a multi-cultural environment alongside distinguished and world-renowned researchers in state-of-the-art facilities.

Details of the Singapore Government Scholarships

Research Areas

The PhD program Research Areas are categorically grouped into four major areas, namely:

  • Physical Sciences (PS)
  • Computing and Information Sciences (CIS)
  • Biomedical Sciences (BS)
  • Engineering and Technology (E&T)

Eligibility Criteria

  • The SINGA Scholarship is open to all international graduates who are passionate about research and have excellent results in academics.
  • The graduate student must possess good skills in both spoken and written English and
  • Good reports from academic referees.

There are other factors to consider for eligibility. Some other factors which are flexible may be included by A*STAR without prior notice.

Scholarship Benefits

The Singapore Government Scholarships (SINGA Scholarships) covers the following

  • Tuition fees
  • Monthly stipend of S$2,200. This stipend will be increased if the candidate passes the Qualifying Examination to S$2,700.
  • One-time airfare grant of up to S$1,500
  • One-time settling-in allowance of S$1,000

This support lasts up to 4 years of PhD studies.

First Step: Browse PhD Research Projects

Browse the projects you have interest in the Research Areas.

Second Step: Required Documents

It is advised that all applicants keep the following documents handy before starting the application.

  • Valid International Passport
  • Recent passport-sized photo (in .jpeg or .png format)

NB: All documents must be submitted online on the application portal. SINGA do not allow sending hard copy documents to their office.

Third Step: Transcripts and Reports

Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Academic transcripts

Bachelor’s Degree certificate(s) or a certifying letter from the university on your candidature if the degree certificate has not been awarded yet.

Two recommendation letters from your referees (these letters must be submitted by the referees).

NB: All documents (Transcripts) must be in English translation.
